Farm Memories | My Creative Scrapbook

Hello there!

I am thrilled to be sharing another layout for My Creative Scrapbook, as well as a sketch and process video!  The October main kit was so fun to create with, especially with these sweet photos of my grandson!

This layout was created based on the monthly sketch challenge at My Creative Scrapbook, which was created by yours truly!  I am thrilled to be creating sketches for them for the next while!

I love the way the kraft paper background (from my stash) helps all the pretty colours pop on this page!

You know I love a multi font title, and this one packs a punch with the oversized die cut alphas from Jillibean Soup!

Oh and these sweet farm animal die cuts, I am such a fan!

As suggested in the sketch, I added some stitching but I kept mine more on the boxy side.

Here is a look at the sketch for you!

I would love to see you play along, you can link up over at My Creative Scrapbook.

You can view my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: (from the kit) Jillibean Soup Farmhouse Stew patterned papers (bless your heart, goodness gracious, bite size bits), die cut alphas, label stickers, puffy stickers, pea pod parts; Echo Park brads; rustic twine. (Other Supplies) Mr. Huey's brown mist; Tim Holtz 'gathered twigs' distress marker; misc. paper clip; Bazzill cardstock.

Hello Friend | Stuck?! Sketches

Hey there!  It is time for a new sketch challenge over at Stuck?! Sketches, which means I have a new sketch, layout and even a process video to share with you today!

Here is a look at the sketch, it is a pretty simple single photo design.

And this is my take on it!

I have had this photo printed and in my "to scrap" pile for quite some time now.  I really wanted to document this story, but the colours in the photo were not so inspiring to me. But this month, I was determined to get it done!

I pulled out some old Bo Bunny "Happy Tales" collection goodies thinking that some of it might work on this page but other than the papers, which I used, the embellishments were too cat and dog specific.  Which meant I had to dig around in my stash to find a few generic thing that might work.

I ended up using some Crate Paper "Cool Kid" stuff, because I was hoping that the yellows and teals would tone down the harsh blue in my photo a bit.  I also loved that I finally used these plus sign stickers, I will admit they stumped me for a while.

I pulled a couple of stickers to create my title and a random flair, as well as a couple of Charm's Creations felt elements to embellish this area.

We have two fantastic sponsors for this challenge, all winners are chosen via a random draw.

As I mentioned, I also have a process video, you can watch it here or on m channel here.

Supply List: Bo Bunny patterned paper; Simple Stories, October Afternoon, Fancy Pants, Echo Park, Pretty Little Studio and Crate Paper stickers; Crate Paper chipboard; Charm's Creations felt elements; Stampin' Up clip; Freckled Fawn clip; M Mind's Eye twine; misc. flair, washi and acetate arrow; Sharpie pen; "iced spruce and "fossilized amber" distress oxide inks.

Thanks for visiting!

Wedding Wishes | Wedding Card

Hi there! You are probably tired of hearing about it by now, but my son and his beautiful fiance are got married yesterday! I made a little card for them and thought you might like to take a peek!

I created the wine glass cut file a while back and shared them on my blog here. To create this die cut card, I released the compound path of the taller wine glass cut file, removed the outer (largest) shape, and then grouped the rest of the pieces back together. Then I duplicated this shape.  After that I created a rectangle that measure 4" x 5.25" and placed the two wine glasses where I thought looked best.  Finally, I clicked on all three shapes (the two wine glasses and the rectangle) and created a compound path.

I backed the stems of the glasses with gold cardstock, and then added acetate behind the upper portion of the wine glass.  ScorTape or Red Line tape works best for this.  Once that was adhered, I added dimensional foam tape around the bowls of the wine glasses, giving me a spot to hold the sequins.

After pouring in some pretty sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps, I removed the backing form the foam tape and placed a scrap of white cardstock over the openings.  You want to be sure to seal the space between the glasses so that the sequins don't all end up in there instead of in the glasses.

Next I mounted this all onto a card base covered in a subtle but pretty patterned paper (this paper was given to me by my friend Bev). Finally, I stamped my sentiment and added a few pretty gems.

Supply List: SpiegelMom Scraps sequins ( wedding bells, spring fever); Paper Trey Ink sentiment stamp from Enjoy the Ride set; ColorBox gold Ink; Blue Fern Studios "bourbon street" patterned paper from the Courtship Lane collection; Fancy Pants Designs gold paper; American Crafts and Recollections cardstock; digital cut file created by me; Queen and Co. clear bubbles.

Everyday Rad | Simple Stories

Hey there! I am sharing a layout today of my middle son, he is getting married TOMORROW! I pulled out an older photo of him and played around with a few of my older Simple Stories "So Rad" goodies ad a Jillibean Soup placemat.

I trimmed my cardstock base down and matted it onto this fun large striped patterned paper from the So Rad" collection.  Then I backed a few, as in a very few, opening in the Jillibean Soup placemat with a few different patterned papers.

This wood veneer word is by Heidi Swapp, it's an older piece.  I "painted" it with some navy Color Shine. I also sprinkled the Color Shine around my page.

I used "So Rad" cardstock stickers, some random Simple Stories clear stickers and Tim Holtz rubons to accent my page.

I also pulled in a few Jillibean Soup label stickers, a hand trimmed tag and an Evalicious flair to finish off my look. I really like the way it turned out, masculine but still fresh and clean(ish)!

Supply List: American Crafts cardstock and enamel shapes; Simple Stories patterned papers and alphas from So Rad and clear stickers from Posh; Jillibean Soup placemat and stickers; Evalicious flair; Tim Holtz rubons; Heidi Swapp navy Color Shine; and wood veneer; Artist Loft paint; misc. crochet thread.

XOXO | Just for Fun

Hey there!  I am popping in for a quick post today to share a just for fun page I created recently.  I have been having trouble creating and I got to wondering if it was because almost all of my creating lately is for various DT assignments.  So I decided to just play a little a see what comes of it.

For this page, I kept things fairly minimal, in product and in colours.

I really like the way it turned out!

I started by splattering my background with some acrylic paint, it was the only medium in this shade of pink that I had, and I really like how it looks.

As you probably guessed the flowers are fussy cut from a patterned paper.  The leaves started out punched but were too large so I trimmed them down by hand to get them to just the right size.  I used a water colour pencil to colour the centre of the flowers to match the leaves.  I considered colouring the flowers too, but in the end preferred them white for this page.

The tag and frame are also hand cut.  As are the hearts, some of which I also coloured with a water colour pencil.

I used a thin strip of cardstock to pull the pink to the top of my page, since I didn't have any in the patterned papers that I pulled out.

I had one pink flair in my stash, thankfully it worked!  I think I might need to order a few more for when I do the kids a wedding album!

A hand cut title, a bit of journalling and a few stickers finished off my page.  Of course, I had to add a sprinkling of something so I dipped into my Jillibean Soup sequins.

Supply List:  Bella Blvd patterned paper and stickers; American Crafts cardstock; CTMH water colour pencils; DecoArt acrylic paint; Jillibean Soup sequins; Becky Higgins flair; misc. crochet thread.

Pumpkin Patch | My Creative Scrapbook

Hello there!

Hi there!  I am sharing another layout and process video with you today!  This page was created with the gorgeous October Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook!  The kit is amazing, featuring goodies from Jillibean Soup's "Farmhouse Stew" collection and Simple Stories "Happy Harvest" collection, I know you will love it! As I mentioned last week, it is the perfect blend of Fall and everyday goodies!

Last week, I  shared an everyday sort of layout using the kit so today I would like to share a Fall themed layout!

I was inspired by the free cut files offered at My Creative Scrapbook this month, particularly the pumpkin.  So I duplicated that little cutie several times and welded them together to create this large die cut for my page.

I love the way it turned out, especially since I kept things simple and used the same Jillibean Soup patterned paper to back the whole thing.

From there, I created a visual triangle with my photo, title and an embellishment cluster.

I think it sort of looks as if these three elements are in the pumpkin patch!

I made a point of repeating colours in each of these three areas, to keep them looking cohesive since each area is quite different.

You can view my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here!

Supply List: (from the kit) Jillibean Soup Farmhouse Stew patterned papers (bless your heart, hold your horses, goodness gracious, kiss my grits), die cut alphas, label stickers, puffy stickers, pea pod parts; Simple Stories Happy Harvest 3x4 and 4x6 journaling card elements and cardstock stickers.  My Creative Scrapbook cut file. (Other Supplies) Mr. Huey's white mist; Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

Be You Always | My Creative Scrapbook

Hey there! It is reveal day over at My Creative Scrapbook, and that means I get to share this month's awesome main kit with you, as well as a layout and process video, too!

This month's kit, which features the Jillibean Soup "Farmhouse Stew"  collection and some of the "Happy Harvest" collection from Simple Stories, is so sweet and fun and so great for our Fall photos but also for everyday pictures, as well! You will love it!

Check out the kit contents.

For my first page, I was inspired by all of the pretty florals and butterflies in the kit, and opted to create a non Fall themed page.

I also pulled in the pink wood-grain paper which I love! This photo is of my daughter in law, and I scooped it from her Facebook page.  Silly girl gave me carte blanche access to all her pics! Wink wink!

I opted for a horizontal design, that was supposed to be simple.

Which I embellished with 3 clusters of florals around the photo.

And used a fun cut apart card as part of my title.

I also sprinkled some of the pretty little wood veneer butterflies and some white mist around my page.  In the end, I love it, but boy did it take me FOREVER.  Why does that happen?  When you aim for simple it should be quick, should it not?

Any how, I have a process video for this layout as I mentioned, you should watch it!  Here or on my You-Tube channel, which ever you prefer!

Supply List: (from the kit) Jillibean Soup "Farmhouse Stew" patterned papers (gimme some sugar, kiss my grits, goodness gracious and bite sized bits), pea pod parts, puffy stickers, soup labels, and coordinating label stickers; Jillibean Soup wood veneer butterflies; Carta Bella "Beach Day" decorative brads. (oter supplies) white Mr. Hue's mist; co'ordinations vellum; Gutermann gold thread.
