DIY Button Tutorial and one last Kit Club Project- Boys Rule Kit Club

Hi there!

I have a fun little DIY button tutorial to share with you today, this tutorial and project were created with the Boys Rule Kit Club January / February kit contents.

What happens when you do not have the exact button you need?  This has happened to me a few times, especially when scrapbooking away from home.  What do you do?  Well, you make one of course!

You only need a few basic supplies, paper of your choice, a 1/2 inch circle punch or die cutting machine, a piercing tool, white glue (not shown) and some Glossy Accents.  Now you are ready to go!

After punching a half dozen or so circles, adhere them together with the white glue, this will give your DIY button some depth.

You want a nice tidy stack like this, set them aside to dry. Once they are dry, top with a nice coat of Glossy Accents and let dry once again.  Do not be impatient like I was when creating this tutorial ;) ! Your button should be nice and clear at this point not cloudy.

Now pierce two little holes, just like a button would have.

This is pretty much what your button should look like.

And this is what it should look like set into place on your project.

And this is my completed page, as you can see I really needed something in that corner.

Here are a few close up shots of my page....

As the title says, I had so much fun using up the last of my kit contents! Just in time to get ready to start a brand new month!

One Stamp 3 Ways - Tutorial

Hi there!

When deciding what kind of a tutorial to share with you this week, I came up with a sort of three for one tutorial using stamps.  I don't often remember or embrace stamping, I definitely need more practice at it.  So I challenged myself to share a few techniques with you, utilizing a single stamp.

I decided to use this stamp set, and specifically the grid type stamp since it was a gift from ScrapMuch? at one of the Fall Retreats.

The first idea is really really simple, just stamp on to scrap paper....

.. trim out and use as a journalling area on a layout.

For my second tip, I stamped the image 4 times onto a card base.

Then I painted in the squares and rectangles using water colour paints.

I love the vibrant look.  It does curl slightly but will flatten when adhered onto a card.

This is what my finished card looks like with my bold geometric background.

For my last idea, I wanted to share with you a tip about stamping onto layouts.

I started by layering my photo onto a few pieces of pattern papers in a colour combo that I like.

Then I used some distress inks to create two focal areas on my background page.

Then with my stamp, and NO block, I random stamped partial images onto the background.

This is what the finished background looks like.

Here is a little close up for you.

And this is my finished page.

This is also a great stash busting layout, as I just went through all my goodies and pulled out items in the colours I wanted to play with.

I hope this inspires you too look at stamps a little differently and try to come up with fun and creative ways to use them.

All Boy - Boys Rule

Hi there!

I am sharing a page I created the other night, for Boys Rule Kit Club.  I honestly just popped into my craft room to clean up a bit before heading off to bed.  We are currently also using my craft room as a homeschooling area and I wanted to have it ready for us to start learning in the morning.  But somehow, a layout happened!

These photos were taken this past summer at a small zoo not too far from our summer vacation place.  My little guy loves when he can interact with the animals in residence.  I love scrapping photos months later, because I get to relive all the fun all over again.

I started out this by adding a subtle misted harlequin pattern to the already pretty wood grained background paper.

Then I added some teal, misted in a polka dot pattern, as well as some faux stitching, using my Silhouette and a brown felt tip pen.

These Pink Paislee stars are amazing, you can add ink to alter the colour but the white polka and black text remain consistent.  Love that!

You can see on this photo and the one below I used some of the Thickers accent pieces as embellishments. It is a good way to use more of your alpha packages.

I used a Copic marker to alter the colour of my enamel triangles, I felt they were just slightly too blue for this particular page, Sharpies and paint pens work well too.  Another good way to get more use out of your stash / kit.

Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

True Love - Evalicious

Hi there!

I am back with another page for the Evalicious blog today!  This time I used a bunch of goodies from the "Field Notes" collection,  can I tell you I just love it.  The colours are so me!

I decided to use this collection to document the relationship between our youngest son and our pup.  His name is Max, but he is often referred to as the "fat menace".  He is a cheeky puppy at times, but his saving grace is his love for snuggling.

I started with this fun polka dot paper from My Mind's Eye, and added some randomly stamped little hearts (from the Photo Shoot stamp set) in brown ink.  I really loved how the chartreuse polka dots worked with the Evalicious goodies, but wanted to also tie in the browns from the collection.

After that I layered a few more patterned papers, more from MME as well are We R Memory Keepers and Fancy Pants.  This page was a great opportunity to use up some leftover papers.

Then the fun part begins, adding fabulous embellishments!

Puffy alphas that stick amazing and have loads of the most used letters AND come in great neutrals, oh my!

The small 'Field Notes Snip Snip labels' are just perfect paired up for an interesting journaling area.

This collection also has fabulous wood veneer pieces.

There are two sets of puffy stickers and both have amazing shapes and images / phrases.

You know how much I love my flair and Eve doesn't disappoint with her amazing badge buttons!

More wood veneer and puffy stickers.

And let's not forget the great clips!  There are three fun shapes to choose from.
